He is the deputy director and university professor of the I. Sz. Children's Clinic of Semmelweis University, where he has been working since completing his studies. After obtaining a pediatric qualification, his interest turned to pediatric gastroenterology, he mainly deals with malabsorption, food allergies and inflammatory bowel diseases most intensively, but he has extensive experience in other areas of the specialty as well.

- He has been involved in the international public life of pediatric gastroenterology for decades and is the co-author of several international guidelines.
- Between 1986 and 1989, he worked in the research laboratory of the Children's Clinic of the University of Helsinki, where he studied the immunological mechanisms of the development of celiac disease, milk allergy and inflammatory bowel disease.
- Between 2010 and 2014, he was a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
- He was the president of the 42nd congress of ESPGHAN organized in Budapest.
