Frequently Asked Questions about Contract Signing and Childbirth
1. When can I sign a contract?
The contract signing is recommended between the 35th and 36th week; therefore, we kindly ask that the appointment scheduling takes place between the 30th and 32nd week.
2. From which week can I give birth at Duna Medical Center?
You can give birth at Duna Medical Center from the 36th completed week of pregnancy. Unfortunately, due to the absence of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), we cannot accommodate premature births. In the case of a preterm birth, we will refund the package fee.
3. How does the contract signing process work?
Please indicate your intention to sign a contract to our colleague, Petra Botlik, at +36 70 332 1594 or by emailing szuleszet@dunamedical.com. We will get in touch with you to arrange an appointment.
Once you have scheduled a contract signing appointment, please email the following scanned or high-quality photographed documents to szuleszetdmc@gmail.com:
- Mother's address card, social security (TAJ) card, and ID card
- Father's address card and ID card
- If married, a copy of the marriage certificate
- If not married, please bring the paternity declaration to the birth (we will need the original copy)
- Pregnancy booklet: pages 1, 3, 7, and 15 (send page 15 only if it has been completed and stamped by the pediatrician)
After receiving the documents and the information discussed over the phone and email, there are two ways to sign the final contract:
- In person: You can schedule an appointment for signing the contract with Petra Botlik by calling +36 70 332 1594 or emailing szuleszet@dunamedical.com.
- By mail: We will send you the final contract and related consent forms. Once signed, please return them to us by mail. We will send you the signed copy from DMC, and you can collect the original during your next visit.
4. What should I do with the consent forms received at the time of contract signing?
We provide consent forms for:
- Anesthesia consultation: Please fill it out, sign it, and return it to szuleszet@dunamedical.com. In certain cases, the anesthesiologist may request an in-person consultation, which we will schedule with you. A personal consultation is mandatory in case of a planned C-section.
- Consent for C-section: This should be signed and brought with you to the CTG examination or the birth. Even if you plan for a natural birth, it is essential to sign the C-section consent in advance in case an emergency procedure is needed during delivery.
- Birth management: For natural birth, this should be signed and brought to the CTG or the birth. Please note, do not date the forms when signing.
Additionally, we provide an information sheet on birth registration, which you only need to read; it does not require a signature. Please keep this document until the birth, as it contains contact information for the registrar.
5. How do I choose a doctor or midwife, and how can I contact them?
Profiles of our doctors and midwives, including photos, are available on our website.
If you wish to choose a doctor, please notify us by emailing szuleszet@dunamedical.com. If the chosen doctor is not affiliated with our institution for pregnancy care, we will provide their contact information so that you can schedule a consultation. During the consultation, you can discuss whether the doctor can attend your birth.
If you would like to choose a midwife, please contact her directly via her DMC email address found on our website. We recommend selecting three midwives in order of preference in case of availability issues.
Please ensure that you finalize the choice of your doctor and midwife before contract signing, as their names will be included in the contract.
6. Does the Basic Package include the 38th-week CTG examination?
No, the Basic Package does not include the 38th-week CTG. However, you can still have the examination at DMC for a fee of 36,000 HUF, which includes urine testing and blood pressure measurement.
7. Can I still give birth safely at the hospital if I choose the Basic Package?
Yes, all three of our maternity packages include the essential services needed for a safe and comfortable birth. Our more advanced packages offer additional services tailored to personal preferences, including the option to choose your doctor and midwife.
8. What should I do if my pregnancy care is not being provided at Duna Medical Center but I want to sign a birth package contract?
If your pregnancy care is not managed by a doctor at Duna Medical Center, we ask that you come to us for a birth permit consultation during your 36th week. This consultation with one of our obstetricians will include a review of your medical records and a discussion of your delivery options. The cost of this consultation is 38,000 HUF.
9. How do I make a payment, and what are the payment options? Can the invoice be split?
Detailed information about payment methods is available in our Payment Information Guide.
10. What happens to the payment made for the birth contract if, through no fault of my own, I am unable to give birth at Duna Medical Center (e.g., not arriving in time, the ambulance doctor does not allow transfer)?
In such cases, we will refund the fees for the birth and post-birth services. If the birth occurs before the 36th week, we will refund the full package fee.
11. How should I prepare for my stay at the hospital? What should I bring, and what is provided by the hospital?
You can find and download our information guide for expectant mothers arriving for delivery on our website, which covers all practical questions.

15. Does DMC support natural, undisturbed childbirth? What is your approach to induction and free position choices during labor?
Our maternity practice prioritizes natural and undisturbed childbirth, supported by both our doctors and midwives. However, we are fully prepared for any medical interventions that may be required to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. If labor does not begin by the due date and both mother and baby are healthy, we will wait until the 41st week for spontaneous labor or induction.
16. Can I give birth in a tub? Is perineal protection possible in this case?
Yes, you can give birth in a tub if your doctor approves it based on your condition. Please ask your doctor or midwife about perineal protection during water births. All three of our packages include the cost of water births.
17. Do you support vaginal birth after a C-section (VBAC)?
Yes, as long as the doctor deems it safe.
18. Can I choose to have a C-section because I do not want to experience labor pain?
At our institution, C-sections are performed only if there is a medical indication. If a complication arises during labor, requiring an emergency C-section, it will be performed immediately.
19. Can my newborn stay with me in the room during my stay?
Yes, absolutely. We follow the latest professional guidelines for newborn care, which prioritize zero separation, taking into account the well-being and needs of both mother and baby.
20. Can you guarantee a family room if we've already paid for it but the ward is fully booked?
Yes, we guarantee the family room even during busy periods.
21. Is there a chance that, even after signing the contract, I could be turned away due to full capacity at the time of delivery?
No, once the contract has been signed, the hospital will not turn away expectant mothers. We are prepared for high-demand periods.
22. What should I do if I want to collect stem cells?
If you wish to collect stem cells, please notify us in advance, for example, during the 38th-week CTG examination. If your CTG is performed elsewhere, please inform us when you arrive for delivery. If you have already signed a contract with a stem cell bank, simply bring the box or kit provided by the bank, and we will handle the collection free of charge. If you have not yet contracted with a stem cell bank, you can choose from the ones affiliated with DMC, based on the terms they provide.
23. How does birth registration work at your hospital?
In point 3, we list the documents that we request you send via email in advance or bring with you when signing the contract. Based on these documents, our midwife will initiate the birth registration process, and you will discuss it with them after delivery.
For those with an out-of-town address, the official documents will be sent by post. For Budapest residents, they will need to pick up the documents at the Bakáts Square office. The process takes about 10 business days, and you can inquire by phone at the office. We will provide contact details and further information in person.
The Civil Registry Office issues the tax number, address card, and health insurance card, as well as the birth certificate. Parents must apply for the newborn's ID card at a government office (Kormányablak).
24. We are expecting a girl and would like to have her ears pierced. Is this possible at your hospital?
Currently, ear piercing is not available at our maternity unit.
25. Does the package include newborn photography?
