Frequently asked questions and answers regarding contract signing and childbirth
1. From when is it possible to sign a contract?
The maternity contract can be signed from the 12th week of pregnancy, provided that the first-trimester genetic ultrasound examination has been completed.
If the expectant mother does not have a chosen doctor, or if her antenatal care is not provided by a doctor contracted with Duna Medical Center, two delivery approval consultations are required for early contract signing.
During the consultation, the Head Physician reviews the test results completed up to that point and also performs an ultrasound examination, which costs an additional HUF 37,000 on top of the package fee.
2. How does contract signing take place?
If you would like to sign a contract, please contact our colleague, Petra Botlik, by phone at +36 70 332 1594 or by e-mail at szuleszet@dunamedical.com. Our colleague will then contact you to arrange a suitable appointment for the in-person contract signing.
3. Is payment in instalments available?
The package fee must be paid on the day of contract signing. In the case of the maternity package, the fees of the chosen doctor and midwife, as well as any additional services, must be paid after childbirth, upon discharge.
For our antenatal care packages available from the 8th–10th week of pregnancy, payment in two instalments is also available.
4. What should I bring with me for contract signing?
After booking your appointment, our contact colleague will send you detailed information by e-mail about the documents and steps required for contract signing.
Before signing the contract, please decide and indicate whether you have a chosen doctor or midwife with whom you have already consulted, as well as which maternity package and room type you would like to choose.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our colleague at +36 70 332 1594.
5. How can I contact the doctor or midwife I prefer?
All of our available doctors can be found on our website. By clicking on the “Appointment Booking” menu item, you can easily book an appointment with the specialist of your choice who practices at our institution, or you can do so through our call center by calling +36 1 790 7070.
However, some doctors do not practice at our institution, so they must be contacted directly through their own private practices.
Our midwives can be contacted by e-mail.
6. When and where will the open days be available?
We hold our open days every month, providing an opportunity for you to get to know our hospital and ask any questions you may have.
Participation in the open days requires prior registration, which can be completed by clicking the “Registration” button.
7. Where can I enquire about invoicing or health fund-related matters?

8. What is the background institution of Duna Medical Center’s Obstetrics Center?
Semmelweis University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Üllői Road, formerly known as SOTE II Women’s Clinic.
9. When are visiting hours, and what rules apply to the presence of an accompanying person during childbirth?
Visiting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
During childbirth, the accompanying person may be present in the delivery room or operating theatre in the case of both vaginal birth and caesarean section.
10. Do you support natural birth, and what is your approach to induction of labour, free choice of birthing positions and pain relief?
In our obstetric practice, we place emphasis on natural and undisturbed childbirth, with full support from our doctors and midwives. At the same time, with our state-of-the-art surgical equipment and professional staff, we are prepared for any obstetric surgical interventions that may become necessary for the safety of the mother and the baby, whether planned or urgent, and whether arising during the course of labour.
We consider it important to provide our patients not only with safe medical care, but also with clear, understandable information and emotional support that help create a sense of security.
If labour does not start on the due date, and both the mother and the fetus are in good condition, meaning there is no medical indication for induction, we wait until the 41st week for labour to start spontaneously or for induction to take place.
Within the limits of medical reason and professional safety, our specialists support various positions during labour and childbirth. Natural pain relief methods are also available at our institution, such as a warm bath, music, aromatherapy, essential oils, diffuser, wall bars, warm compresses, birthing stool and birthing ball.
11. Is water birth possible? Is perineal protection possible in this case?
Yes, water birth is possible if approved by the doctor based on the expectant mother’s condition. Please ask our doctors or midwives about perineal protection during water birth.
12. Do you support vaginal birth after caesarean section?
Yes, if the doctor considers it safe.
13. Can the newborn stay with me in the room during my hospital stay?
Of course. At our institution, the latest professional principles also guide newborn care. Accordingly, we prefer the principle of zero separation, naturally taking into account the current condition and needs of you and your baby.
14. Can you guarantee a family room?
Family rooms reserved in advance are treated with priority, and we do everything we can to ensure availability at the time of childbirth.
15. Is there a chance that, even after signing the contract, I could be turned away at the time of childbirth because the hospital is full?
No. Mothers arriving with an already signed contract are not turned away by the hospital. We are prepared for periods of full occupancy.
16. What should be done in the case of stem cell collection?
Please bring the box or package provided by the stem cell bank with you. We will carry out the remaining necessary steps free of charge.
17. How does birth registration work at your institution?
Those with an address outside Budapest will receive the issued documents by post, while Budapest residents need to collect them in person from the office at Bakáts Square. The documents are prepared within 10 working days, and you can enquire about them by phone at the office. We will provide the contact details and information material in person.
18. Do the maternity packages include newborn photography?
Yes. Newborn photography is part of every maternity package and includes the photo session, one gift card, and the option to appear in the online baby gallery.
The newborn photo session takes approximately 20–30 minutes. From the completed photos, various BABYBOX packages and products can be ordered. Please note that these are not included in the maternity packages and are available as separately charged services.
19. Does Duna Medical Center perform sample collection for SMA screening?
At Duna Medical Center, we perform sample collection required for newborn screening for congenital spinal muscular atrophy, also known as SMA. The screening is state-funded and involves no additional cost.
