Duna Medical Center Maternity Statistics 2025

Safety. Expertise. Harmony.

At Duna Medical Center, maternity care is more than a medical service – it is both a responsibility and a vocation. Our maternity statistics for 2025 reflect a professional approach in which safety, evidence-based medical care, and the individual needs of expectant mothers are all given equal importance.

More Than One Thousand New Lives – Balanced Outcomes

In 2025, a total of 1,023 babies were born at our hospital.

More than 56% of births (570 deliveries) were vaginal births, while 453 deliveries (44%) were performed by caesarean section.

It is important to note that the reasons for caesarean deliveries are clearly defined:

  • Medically indicated caesarean sections: approximately 27%
  • Maternal request caesarean sections: 78 cases (17% of all caesarean deliveries)

These figures demonstrate that the mode of birth is determined through a combination of medical considerations and the preferences of the expectant mother.

VBAC: When Vaginal Birth Gets a Second Chance

We are particularly proud that 55 women achieved a successful vaginal birth after a previous caesarean section (VBAC).

This requires not only extensive professional expertise, but also continuous medical supervision and a high level of safety.

In addition, 2 women successfully delivered vaginally after two previous caesarean sections (VBAC2). Although less common, these cases demonstrate the broad range of options available to suitable candidates.

Harmony and Freedom of Choice

Every birth experience is unique, which is why we place great emphasis on providing both choice and a supportive environment.

In 2025:

  • 52 babies were born in water, meaning nearly one in every twenty births involved this natural birthing option.
  • 42 women received epidural analgesia (EDA).
  • 201 labours were induced.

These figures show that while we actively support the natural birth process whenever possible, all necessary medical interventions remain readily available when needed.

Special Circumstances, Supported by Expertise

Every family’s journey is unique, and some situations require additional care and expertise.

In 2025:

  • 11 twin pregnancies were managed at our hospital.
  • 31 vacuum-assisted deliveries were performed.
  • 3 cases required additional surgical intervention (reoperation).

In every situation, the safety and wellbeing of both mother and baby remain our highest priority.

What Do These Figures Mean for Expectant Mothers?

Behind these statistics stands a well-established and highly experienced maternity team where:

  • natural childbirth is supported whenever possible;
  • all clinical decisions are based on professional medical judgement;
  • the needs and safety of expectant mothers are equally respected;
  • comprehensive hospital resources ensure rapid and effective intervention whenever required.

Safety. Expertise. Harmony.

The maternity statistics for 2025 represent far more than numbers. They reflect the stories of more than one thousand families, all sharing the same goal:

a healthy mother and a healthy baby.

At Duna Medical Center, this is what we work for every day.
