Discounted monthly prostate screening at the Duna Medical Center

Please note that the screening is performed for our asymptomatic patients. If you already have a known prostate problem or have a specific complaint, please visit our urology clinic!

In our country, prostate cancer is one of the most common causes of death in men due to cancer, even though prostate cancer detected in time can be cured and suppressed. So we don't need to explain the importance of early detection any further!

Prostate diseases have few symptoms in the initial stages, so it is recommended to have an annual screening performed over the age of 40, even if there are no symptoms of prostate enlargement or malignant changes.

The prostate screening test, which consists of three tests to be performed together, is simple, quick and painless:

1. Laboratory blood test

In the case of an emerging disease, the level of PSA (prostate-specific antigen) detectable in the blood will definitely increase, the results of the laboratory test show this. However, it is important to know that even with a positive finding, further tests do not confirm the presence of prostate cancer.

2. Manual prostate examination

The manual examination of the prostate through the rectum - which some people are afraid of - is painless, and the doctor performs it discreetly and gently. On the basis of palpation, it is possible to infer possible diseases, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, chronic prostatitis or prostate cancer.

3. Ultrasound examination of the prostate

The ultrasound examination provides an image and immediate feedback on the state of the prostate. Prostate cancer that does not yet cause symptoms can also be screened with high probability.

Things to know before prostate screening

Intense physical exercise, long-term cycling, prostate massage, rectal prostate examination and sexual intercourse can increase PSA values, so it is recommended to refrain from these effects in the two days before the PSA examination.

The ultrasound examination can be successfully performed with a full bladder, therefore it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids before arriving for the screening examination, and refrain from urinating.

Information about the result of the screening

After the laboratory test is completed, our specialist compares the results of the three tests performed. If the joint evaluation of the results raises the risk of the lesion to be treated, our institution will contact you.
