Pregnancy or suspicion of pregnancy is an absolute contraindication to X-ray examinations. A negative statement about pregnancy must be made in writing. If the patient is unsure whether she is pregnant, the test cannot be performed.
The radiology assistant should not take the image until he is satisfied that he has enough information about a possible pregnancy.
