We will rid you of hemorrhoids with a gentle procedure!

2023-09-01
There is a procedure that allows us to get rid of our hemorrhoid complaints without cutting, and thus almost painlessly - no matter how serious they are. We asked Dr. Péter Sipos, surgeon of the Duna Medical Center.
We will rid you of hemorrhoids with a gentle procedure!

"Many of us are affected by hemorrhoids, every second person will definitely experience the unpleasant symptoms during their life. However, due to the nature of the problem, few people go to the doctor, they are ashamed of themselves, they are even afraid of the examination itself. I would like to encourage everyone to overcome their inhibitions and see a specialist as soon as possible, because the solution has never been as simple as using the new HAL-RAR technique."

  • What do we as laymen need to know about this technique?

"The essence of the procedure is that it is performed without cutting, under anesthesia, and takes only approx. It takes 20 minutes. A specially developed ultrasound sensor is introduced into the rectum and determines the location of the blood vessels that feed the hemorrhoids. The surgeon "cuts and ties" these vessels, i.e. cuts off their blood supply. Thus, these troublesome nodules begin to shrink and disappear within a few weeks. This is called the HAL technique.

In the most severe stage, when the hemorrhoidal nodules in the rectum have expanded so much that they are constantly protruding from the rectum, the RAR technique comes into question as a supplement. During this procedure, the "slipped" mucous membrane is "pulled up" with the help of a suture, i.e. the protruding hemorrhoidal nodule is lifted back to its original place. The tissue is then scarred, fixed and healed without a trace."

  • What are the advantages of this new procedure compared to the traditional surgical solution?

"Since there is no incision, there is no open wound, so there is almost no pain - neither during nor after the procedure. Patients tend to experience only discomfort. The chance of subsequent bleeding is lower compared to any other intervention, and the occurrence of other complications is rare."

  • And the recovery? When can the patient return to work?

"As I said, the operation itself is approx. It takes 20 minutes and the patient can leave the hospital the same day and return to work in 1-2 days. In contrast, with the traditional surgical procedure, the recovery period - after several days of hospitalization - can take up to 4 weeks. So we can see how much gentler this new technique is."

  • To what extent does it provide a solution for treating serious complaints?

"For the mildest, so-called first-degree complaints, drug treatment is usually sufficient. However, in case of more significant problems, this procedure existing in 2005 can be a solution at all levels. The II. and III. in the case of grade 1 gold bars, we use the HAL technique, the most severe, IV. and in the second grade, this is supplemented by the RAR - i.e. reinstatement - procedure."

  • He mentioned that they have been using this technique since 2005. What experiences can they report?

"This intervention has already been performed on more than 100,000 patients around the world. Studies prove that the HAL-RAR technique is not only gentler, less painful and enables faster recovery than traditional excision surgery, but its effectiveness and long-term effectiveness are also not lacking from that."

  • What should those who decide to look for a solution to their hemorrhoid complaint at the Duna Medical Center expect?

"First, you must definitely take part in a specialist examination, where the extent of the problem will be assessed. If the medication and ointment treatment is not sufficient, then the intervention may take place. This requires a pre-operative laboratory test, an EKG and an anesthesiologist's examination in the case of diseases. Before surgery, the rectum is recommended 2 Glycerines suppositories for emptying.

"Surgery" usually takes place with a short appointment time, after which the patient can go home the same afternoon."
