Introduction, curriculum vitae

András Attila Horváth graduated with a degree in general medicine from Semmelweis University in 2014 with summa cum laude honours. He earned his PhD in 2018 and his habilitation degree in clinical neuroscience from Semmelweis University in 2025. Since 2014, he has been a departmental physician and clinical neurology research physician at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosurgery, as well as a lecturer at Semmelweis University. In 2021, he established the Neurocognitive Research Center at the Nyírő Gyula National Institute of Psychiatry and Addiction, which focuses on the early diagnosis and clinical research of dementia, and has been its head physician ever since. From 2025, he will be an honorary professor at the Universidade de Lisboa in Lisbon.

He has worked at numerous institutions abroad over the past 10 years, including in Switzerland (Universitätsspital Zürich), Belgium (Erasme Teaching Hospital, Brussels), Portugal (Hospital de Santa Maria and Hospital Julio Matos, Lisbon), and the United States (Langone Medical Health Center, New York). He is fluent in English and has an intermediate level of German.

His main area of interest is the study of the neurophysiological factors and risk factors of Alzheimer's disease. He is the lead researcher in several international and domestic projects in this field (e.g., Hungarian Academy of Sciences Momentum Grant, European Union Joint Programme on Neurodegenerative Disease Research) and a key member of numerous research consortia (e.g., EUFingers Consortium). His work has been recognised on numerous occasions with various honours and awards (e.g., Junior Prima Award, János Bolyai Research Scholarship, Grey Walter Investigator Award, Research Excellence Merit Award, Academic Youth Award, Pro Educatione Award).

He is a member of the review committee of several international journals and scientific committees (e.g., Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, Italian Medical Agencies), as well as an advisor to medical technology and pharmaceutical research companies (e.g., Angelini Pharma, KompanionCare Ltd). He is the author of more than 50 scientific publications in the field of dementia, with a total of over 1,100 citations and a Hirsch index of 17.
